Merge

Use the Merge tool to merge active, Gray ScaleTrue Color images into a single image.  This is usually done to return a channel, extracted with the Extract tool, to an image after the channel data have been manipulated.  However, you might use it to merge any three Gray ScaleimTrue Color images into a single age.

The Merge tool will work only if the source images are Gray Scale and opened in the Image-Pro workspace.  If there are no active images that are Gray Scale, the command will be dimmed.

To perform a merge:

  1. Open the three gray scale images that you want to merge.
  2. Click on the arrow beneath the Merge tool:

    The Merge menu is displayed.

  3. Click on the arrow to the right of the Merge to tool.

The Merge to menu is displayed.

  4. Select the color model that you want to use for the merge.  For example, you can merge the grayscale images into the red, green, and blue channels of an RGB image, or you can merge the grayescale images into the hue, saturation, and luminance channels of an HSL image.
  5. Use the three pull-down list boxes labeled after the channels of the selected color model to identify which gray scale images to merge into which channels.  For example, if you are using the RGB color models, you would:
    1. Click on the Red pull-down list box, and select the gray scale image to merge into the red channel.
    2. Click on the Green pull-down list box, and select the gray scale image to merge into the green channel.
    3. Click on the Blue pull-down list box, and select the gray scale image to merge into the blue channel.
  6. To execute the merge, click on the Merge tool.

The merged image will appear in the Image-Pro workspace as an unsaved file.
