Viewing a Surface Plot

A surface plot is a 3-D representation intensity of changes along the surface of an feature or image. Surface Plot may be used in combination with Extended Depth of Field to show the height distribution of images.  It also can be used as a visualization tool to examine the intensity of gray scale images, or viewed as an image sequence. To view a surface plot:

  1. Open the image that you want to measure if it is not already opened.
  2. Select Surface from the View tab’s ribbon.
  3. You will see a 3D image, similar to this one:

X and Y axes are calibrated according to the spatial calibration, and Z is calibrated according to the intensity calibration of the source image.

  4. You will see the Surface Plot ribbon.

From here, you can make changes to the plot.

The surface plot can be rotated using the left mouse click and drag, moved using <Shift> + Left mouse click and drag,  and zoomed using the mouse wheel or Zoom slider on the status bar.

The surface plot is automatically updated when the source topology or texture images are modified,  or the  image ROI changes.
