Dye Editor
The Dye Editor allows you to manage lists of dyes that can be applied through the Dye/Tint and Color Composite tools.
Dye lists are stored in *.Dyes files on your hard drive. The Dye Editor displays the list of dyes for the currently-selected *.Dyes file. It allows you to edit a previously-defined dye, add a custom dye to the list, or load a different dye list entirely (i.e., select a different *.Dyes file altogether).
Each dye listed represents a color that has been associated with an emission wavelength and an excitation wavelength.
Dye Properties: Click on the pencil tool next to a dye to edit its color and wavelength properties. When you click on this tool, a dialog box appears. Use the controls on this dialog box to change the Name, Excitation Wavelength, Emission Wavelength, and/or Color properties of the dye. After you have made changes, you must click Save to apply those changes to the dye. See "Add" below for more information.
Add: Click on this button to define a new dye to be added to the currently-displayed dye list. When you click this button, a dialog box is displayed allowing to define the new dye parameters.
- Name: Enter the name for the dye in this text box.
- Emissions wavelength: This field displays the emissions wavelength to be applied to the dye. You can adjust the emissions wavelength by entering a new value. The color will change in response to changes in the emissions wavelength. Image-Pro automatically selects the default color associated with the specified emissions wavelength.
- Excitation wavelength: The excitation wavelength to be applied to the dye is displayed here. You can adjust the wavelength by entering a new value.
- Color: Here you can change the color associated with the selected dye. The color default is linked to the selection of a wavelength for your dye. If you change the emissions wavelength, the color displayed will be the standard color for that wavelength. To set a custom color, first you should set the wavelength and then edit the color.
- Save: Click this button to save the new dye definition and have it added to the list.
Delete: Click this button to delete the selected dye(s) from the list. NOTE: Deleted dye definitions are not deleted from the *.Dyes file until you save the changes via the Save button (described below).
Open: Click this button to load a different list from dyes from a different *.Dyes file.
Save: Click this button to save the current list of dye definitions to a *.Dyes file. This file will be stored on a hard drive and can be loaded at a later time using the Open button (described above).
