Camera Control Dialog — Capture Region

Image-Pro with Capture Module Only

The Region group is a section of the Camera Control dialog.  This group of controls allows you to define a region of interest in the Live Capture screen.  Captured images will contain only the data in the defined region of interest.

X, Y, Width, and Height: You can use these spin boxes to define the exact pixel location and size of the acquire region you want to use.  The X and Y spin boxes specify the pixel coordinate of the upper-left corner of the region bounding box.  The Width spin box specifies how many pixels to the right to stretch the bounding box.  The Height spin box specifies how many pixels down from the X,Y coordinates to stretch the bounding box.

If you use the Set ROI button to draw a region of interest in the image (as described below), these values will reflect the coordinates, width, and height of the ROI you draw.

Draw Region:  This tool allows you to draw an ROI bounding box in the Live Preview window. To use this tool, click the "Draw Region" button, click and drag the mouse in the Live Preview window to draw an ROI bounding box that identifies the desired region of interest.  After drawing it, you can make adjustments to its size and position. Once the ROI is optimally sized/positioned, click the same button, which now says "Save Region."  The X, Y, Width, and Height spin boxes are updated to reflect the values of the ROI bounding box.  The ROI bounding box is cleared from the Live Preview screen.

Reset:  Click this button to reset the X, Y, Width, and Height spin boxes to the full size of the Live Preview window.

Lock: The "Lock" icon determines whether the region settings should be applied to both captures and the live preview window ("Locked"), or whether the region settings should be able to be set independently on the "Preview" tab and "Capture" tab and be applied independently for captures and the live preview window ("Unlocked").   Note that the lock icon only appears if the Display Advanced Capture Settings checkbox is selected at the bottom of the Camera Controls dialog box.
