Viewing Image Information

Every image has a collection of metadata associated with it -- document properties -- that are stored as image information with the image data.  This includes name, size, and date information as well as dye, lens, and calibration information.

To view the information associated with a specific image.

Open the image to the application workspace.  Click here for more information.

Right-click on the image to show the image context menu and click on the Document Properties tool.

The Document Properties window is displayed.

For quick editing of basic image information -- Title, Owner, Copyright, and Description information -- use the text fields in the panel on the right.

The panel on the left has several views you can choose from if you want to view/edit other image information.

  • Simple: Limits the display to only the most common image information, and presents all metadata fields as read-only.

  • Normal: Extends the simple view by including access to some less common image information, such as the "Interpretation" information; this view presents metadata fields as read-only.

  • Expert: Provides the master set of non-metadata image information, including digital signature and transform information.

  • Metadata: Select this option to format the view for displaying and editing image metadata fields. Only in this view can you directly edit Lens, Dye, Z-Spacing, and other metadata parameters.
