Setting the Exposure

Image-Pro

The exposure time setting determines how bright images streamed from the camera appear.  There are two methods for setting the camera’s exposure time:

  • Manual
  • Automatic.

To Use the Auto-Exposure Function

To have Image-Pro adjust the exposure automatically:

Open the Capture Preview window (if it is not already opened).

To open the Capture Preview window, click on the Live tool on the Capture ribbon.

(Optional)  Set a region of interest in the live image.  If an ROI is defined, Image-Pro will auto-adjust the exposure based solely on the contents of the ROI.

To set an ROI:

On the Capture ribbon, click on Camera Control.
The settings controls are displayed on the Details panel.

Find the Region dialog on the Details panel.

Click on Draw Region button, and draw an ROI in the Live Preview window over the desired region of interest.
The Draw Region button now says "Save Region".

Click Save Region.

On the Capture ribbon, click on Camera Control and select the Dynamic Auto-Exposure option.

Image-Pro attempts to adjust the exposure such that an optimal level of brightness is achieved.

To Adjust the Exposure Manually

To adjust the exposure manually:

On the Capture ribbon, click on the Settings tool.

The settings controls are displayed on the Details panel.

Find the Controls dialog on the Details panel.

Adjust the slider in the Controls dialog to increase or decrease the exposure setting.  Increasing the exposure settings makes the image brighter.  Decreasing the exposure setting makes the image darker.
